Grain Elevator Operator

The role of grain elevator operator is responsible for all phases of incoming wheat and wheat transfer, ensuring the proper maintenance and operation of equipment, as well as sanitizing the entire grain elevator, drive-throughs and scale area. This position typically reports directly to the Plant Manager or Head Miller or Miller on duty. Some other responsibilities include: calculating grain quotas and conducting tests to determine grain quality, purchasing grain, arranging for transport or storage, and operating the equipment that cleans and moves the grain. Grain elevator operators also load trucks and railcars and act as farm supply sales agents for fertilizers, insecticides and other farm supplies.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Agriculture, Business or related field required
Two years manufacturing experience required
One year+ supervisory experience required
Knowledge of continuous improvement processes; TPM knowledge highly preferred
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent oral and written skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Experience in a union facility is a plus
Experience with several computer applications including but not limited to MS Office
